Curriculum
Bethlehem
Children’s School encourages critical thinking skills and creative
problem-solving across all disciplines. The New York State
curriculum acts as a guide for planning, although no State testing
is administered, unless middle school regents exams are requested by
students. Field trips, in-class presentations and outdoor
learning opportunities are an integral part of the curriculum.
We encourage the unique contribution of parents and take advantage
of the historic, cultural and educational resources of the Capital
District.
Our teachers use integrated themes throughout the curriculum. Based
on the learning needs of a particular group, each teacher decides
how to balance integrated theme work with more isolated skill work.
All teachers incorporate hands-on learning, creative projects, and
group discussion into their regular instruction.
We use learning centers, especially in the early years. Learning
centers encourage exploration, problem solving and experimentation.
They allow students to set their own personal goals, and work with
other students to expand their understanding.
